9 Scottish restaurants named in prestigious La Liste ranking of world’s best restaurants 

New rankings from a prestigious global travel and food guide have been revealed, and nine Scottish restaurants have made the cut.

The world’s best restaurants for 2025 have been revealed and nine Scottish businesses are on the list. La Liste, a global list of the best restaurants, unveiled the rankings this month. 

It  is compiled based on the compilation of thousands of publications, hundreds of guidebooks, and millions of online reviews to give users an overview of the world's best restaurants and hotels.

In the top 1000, there’s a maximum score of 100, and the top nine rated restaurants got a score of 99.5. The only UK restaurant to achieve this was L’Enclume in Cumbria. The top scored Scottish restaurant was The Glenturret Lalique with a score of 92.

The other eight Scottish restaurants that made the coveted list are: Isle of Skye’s Edinbane Lodge; Restaurant Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles; The Kitchin in Edinburgh; Restaurant Martin Wishart in Edinburgh; The Peat Inn in Fife; Inver in Cairndow near Loch Fyne; Number One at the Balmoral in Edinburgh and Cail Bruich in Glasgow.

Chef patron of Edinbane Lodge, Calum Montgomery posted about the listing, writing: “Top 500. Incredibly proud of the entire team at @edinbanelodge

“For another year, we’ve made it into La Liste 1000, with a 3.5-point increase, now ranking among the top 500 restaurants worldwide. 

“We’ve also received an additional award, with Edinbane Lodge now recognized as “a major culinary destination.”

These top fine dining restaurants also all appear in the 2024 Michelin Guide for the UK and Ireland. The 2025 Guide ceremony is coming to Glasgow in February.
