Two Edinburgh restaurants named among UK's top 10 in TripAdvisor awards

Two of Edinburgh's top restaurants have been named in the UK’s top 10, according to the 2019 Travellers’ Choice Awards for Restaurants, announced by TripAdvisor.

The only Scottish restaurants to be named in the top 10 for fine dining, Aizle took the title of fifth best-rated restaurant in the UK, while Castle Terrace Restaurant placed ninth.

Stuart Ralston, owner and chef patron of Aizle said: “I am absolutely thrilled to have won the TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards again this year.

The most rewarding thing about receiving this award is it reflects the unbiased opinion of people from around the globe who have dined at Aizle. Of course this would not be possible without my amazing team, they are the reason Aizle ranks as the number one restaurant in Edinburgh. We thank all of our guest for leaving such positive feedback.”

The Travellers’ Choice Awards for Restaurants honour travellers' favourite dining establishments worldwide. Based on a full year of TripAdvisor reviews, these restaurants were consistently given high ratings and praise by diners across the globe. Award winners were determined by factoring in the quantity and quality of reviews, gathered over a 12-month period.

The fine dining category is aimed at ‘high-end, special occasion restaurants known for impeccable food and service.’

Taking the UK’s top spot this year is Adam’s in Birmingham, which was also the only UK restaurant to feature in both the European and World top 10s.

The coveted title of number one restaurant in the world goes to TRB Hutong in China. Located in Beijing, the restaurant is housed within a 600 year-old temple and serves up contemporary European cuisine, with a focus on French cooking.

TripAdvisor spokesperson Hayley Coleman said: “These awards are determined by the millions of reviews posted over twelve months from diners who have visited the restaurants.

"To be named among the UK’s top ten demonstrates that the amazing work the teams at Aizle and Castle Terrace Restaurant are putting in to deliver the best experience to their customers is clearly paying off.”
