The Harris Wild Rose tincture, priced at £20,  is the first release from the Isle of Harris Distillery’s new drinks apothecary range, designed to complement Isle of Harris Gin serves and cocktails.

Simply add as required to your Harris G&T and Martinis to create subtle new variations of the Harris serve. The tincture will also turn any drink a pale pink.

This small-batch creation of only 394 bottles, is made from wild rose petals, picked in the village of Northton in South Harris. The tincture is balanced with sloes which have been ageing for the last three years, bergamot peel picked in Cyprus and elderberries foraged in Sussex.

Hark back to the golden age of rail travel while treating your mum to a seven course lunch on the luxurious setting of the Northern Belle train.

Start the meal with a Roadside Plate, like the new Vada Pav, a spicy fried potato ball served in a bun. The vegan dish is Mumbai’s favourite street food snack.

Then it’s time to get stuck into one of Tuk Tuk’s famous Street Curries, like the creamy black lentil Daal Makhani, or the chef’s favourite, garlicky Lamb Lasooni - all accompanied with mum’s choice of rice or naan bread, completely free.

One of Glasgow's seafood restaurants, Gamba, has announced a Mother’s Day celebration with complimentary gifts for mum.

Guests will tuck into a three-course meal served with pink prosecco and all mums will take home a signed copy of the Gamba cookbook and a gift bag of tablet.

Dishes on the mother's day menu include: chorizo salad with mackerel served with a Granny Smith and spiced lemon dressing or a zesty fresh prawn crayfish and smoked salmon cocktail, with smoked caviar and lime.

Mains include: grass-fed, dry-aged Sirloin Scotch steak, South Shian salmon with orange Teriyaki, pineapple and fluffy Jasmine rice and baked grey sole with red peppers, prawns, olives, capers, garlic and aged balsamic.

Those with a sweet tooth can look forward to desserts such as: white chocolate cheesecake with pear and stem ginger and raspberry sorbet.

Eight Lands gin

If your mum is a gin fan then why not treat her to a bottle of new, organic gin by Speyside's Eight Lands?

Made at the Glenrinnes Distillery - which has views of the Ben Rinnes mountain, the gin (and vodka) is named after the eight different counties that are visible from the top of Ben Rinnes on a clear day.

The Eight Lands Gin is a London dry gin and is distilled with eleven botanicals, including sorrel and cowberries that grow wild on the Glenrinnes Estate.

The special mother's day afternoon tea, £45 per person, can be enjoyed in the hotel's Palm Court, where guests will tuck into finger sandwiches and cakes, alongside a glass of champagne while listening to the resident harpist.
