There are few things from last year that we’d like to revisit, though Six by Nico have reminded us that it wasn’t all bad.
Their new Best of 2021 menu will be available from Monday January 10 until January 30, for £29pp, at the Glasgow Finnieston, Glasgow Southside and Edinburgh City Centre restaurants.
This six course menu was created thanks to over 50,000 votes on their social media channels, from those who balloted for their favourite dishes. There was plenty to choose from, as 2021 concepts included The Circus, A Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, Paris, Amalfi Coast and Chippie.
"Every year, our development team collectively creates hundreds of dishes for our tasting menus. From noodles to steak and pastries to soup, our menus have been eclectic and tasty,” says chef and owner Nico Simeone.
The final line-up for this limited-edition tasting menu is French Onion (originally from the Paris concept), which consists of Comte foam and toasted sourdough. Then there’s their take on Scampi (from The Chippie 2.0), with Scrabster monkfish cheek, dill emulsion, gribiche, peas and beurre blanc; Little Italy (Sicily) featuring hazelnut ragu, saffron pappardelle, pecorino foam and crispy sage. This is followed by Fish Supper 2.0 (The Chippie 2.0), with cod, caramelised cauliflower, curry sauce, caper and raisin; Flatiron Building (New York) - smoked flat iron steak, Jerusalem artichoke, lovage emulsion, brisket croquette. Pudding is Delizia al Limone (Amalfi Coast), featuring lemon mousseline, almond sponge, caramelised white chocolate, yoghurt and meringue.
Last year, Six by Nico also opened a new restaurant, Beat 6, in Glasgow’s Dennistoun, where all profits go to The Beatson Cancer Charity, which supports the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. Six by Nico will offer diners the option to donate £1 to The Beatson Cancer Charity when they visit for the Best of 2021 menu, and the restaurant will match these amounts.
"It's fascinating to discover what food memories guests carry with them after visiting our restaurants, and with this theme kicking off 2022, we're able to serve up something special for those who love us the most, made even more special because we're raising much needed funds for The Beatson”, says Simeone.
