Here we take a look at some of the best sweet treats to enjoy at home thanks to afternoon tea delivery and collection services.

During lockdown, many bakeries offered an afternoon tea takeaway or delivery service, which have carried on after restrictions eased. Here are some of the best to enjoy in the comfort of home.

Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian

The Waldorf in Edinburgh is offering locals a five start afternoon tea to be enjoyed at home.

The hotel's Peacock Alley is where guests can usually tuck into the traditional treat, but now the pastry chefs have created a Champagne afternoon tea for collection or delivery within Edinburgh - and it's wizarding themed.

Delivery is to postcodes EH1-17 and the wizard themed treats can be washed down with a bottle of Laurent Perrier Champagne.

This Aberdeen coffee shop has an afternoon tea delivery service for those living within 17 miles of the city centre.

Customers can tuck in to picture perfect patisserie miniatures, scones with clotted cream and jams and finger sandwiches, all for £21 per person.

Deliveries are Wednesday-Saturday between 9am-3pm.

Sabrina Damiani is a private chef and caterer, who would normally be found cooking for the Italian consulate, but now she’s offering Edinburgh residents deliveries of her fine dining dishes.

As well as savoury items, Sabrina offers Italian themed afternoon tea boxes, for delivery in Edinburgh.

The afternoon tea boxes  include treats such as cannoli and tirimisu.

Delivery is £5 Edinburgh customers (within 5 miles from EH12), and there's vegetarian, gluten and dairy free options.

This popular Glasgow tea room has an afternoon tea delivery or takeaway service, available to book online.

Orders places on or before Wednesday will be sent out for that weekend and the tea consists of a savoury selection, mini plain and fruit scones, jam and cream, a selection of sweet treats and a choice of Ambr Hand blended tea.

This family run bakery has four outlets in Edinburgh and is known in the city for its tasty, home baked cakes.

The team are offering an afternoon tea for two at home, for delivery in Edinburgh (postcodes EH1-EH22) or collection from Mimi's Corstorphine or Leith.

Afternoon tea is £30 for two and includes two scones, six traybakes, mini cupcakes, sausages rolls, sandwiches and eteaket teabags.

A spokesperson at Mimi's said: "The Mimi's Bakehouse Afternoon Tea is a delectable selection of our award-winning traybakes and miniature cupcakes, served alongside our freshly baked scones with homemade jam and clotted cream and our delicious finger sandwiches and miniature sausage rolls.

Artisan Larder was created thanks to demand for customers looking to buy products usually available in Edinburgh's Ostara Cafe.

Grocery collection or contactless delivery is available as well as store cupboard essentials - and there's an afternoon tea for two to order online for those looking for an authentic Ostara experience at home.

The tea, priced at £20, includes freshly baked Ostara scones with clotted cream and Scottish jam, carrot cake, dark chocolate brownie and filled savoury rolls, to be served with loose leaf Pekoe breakfast tea for two.

The hotel's head chef Graeme Shaw has created a spread that caters for all requirements using locally-sourced, fresh seasonal produce.

Guests can choose an afternoon tea take away selection to enjoy at home or from the comfort of the hotel.

Inside each wicker basket, which comes complete with utensils, diners will find salmon and cream cheese, ham, tomato salad, cheese and pickle and egg mayonnaise sandwiches.

The Stair Arms

This Pathhead hotel came up with innovative new ways to ensure they were able to stay open, while adhering to the coronavirus regulations - resulting in an afternoon tea drive thru service.

The service, in which customers can phone and order a classic afternoon tea then drive in for collection, proved so popular that it is now a permanent feature of the hotel.

Customers can look forward to sweet treats such as caramel shortcake, tablet, truffles and mini Victoria sponge as well as savouries including sandwiches, wraps and sausage rolls.

This Dundee bakery launched what they described as the North East's first ever takeaway afternoon tea late last year, and is still offering the sweet treat to be enjoyed at home.

Each classic Afternoon Tea Box may include For Cake’s Sake’s secret recipe strawberry milkshake cake, raspberry and white chocolate cruffins, filled shorties and their handmade, chocolate truffles, as well as a selection of savouries.
