The Quayside Restaurant & Fish Bar in Gourdon has been named as Scotland’s top fish and chip restaurant today as part of the 2020 National Fish & Chip Awards.

Organised by Seafish, the public body that supports the £10bn UK seafood industry, the National Fish & Chips Awards are the UK’s premier awards for fish and chip businesses.

Quayside Restaurant & Fish Bar will now compete against nine other finalists for the chance to take home the coveted title of the ‘UK’s best fish and chip restaurant’.

The restaurant award category is open to all UK fish and chip businesses with a sit-in restaurant at the main business location.

The National Fish & Chip Awards recognise outstanding restaurants across the country that are serving incredible fish and chips and providing excellent customer service. Shortlisted businesses have gone above and beyond to secure their place in this stage of the competition.

It’s not just about food quality, there are a wide variety of additional factors that make these  restaurant’s stand out, including: excellence in the sustainable sourcing of key ingredients; staff training and development policies and career opportunities for young people and creation of innovative menu options for those with allergies and dietary requirements.

Judges will make a final round of visits to each of the restaurants for mystery dining assessments, before crowning the UK’s best fish and chip restaurant on 23 January 2020 at the award ceremony in London.
