Falkirk's Sanam Tandoori wins Scottish Curry Restaurant of the Year Award

A Falkirk-based restaurant was the big winner at this years' Scottish Curry Awards, walking away with the coveted award of Restaurant of the Year.

Sanam Tandoori of Callendar Road already had reason to celebrate as they had won the best restaurant in the Central area, so they couldn't believe it when they were announced as the big winners of the Scottish Curry Awards night as well.

Owners Waseem, Nadeem, Naeem and Azeem Anwar all attended the awards night at the Marriot Hotel in Glasgow on April 4.

They beat some tough competition from other regional winning restaurants, but their delicious food and outstanding service saw them reach the top spot.

Waseem said:"I couldn't believe it when they called out our name; I don't think any of us were really expecting it.

"It all seems like a bit of a dream, one which could not have been made possible if it wasn't for the fantastic support from our loyal customers."

This year marks the restaurant’s 40th anniversary and celebrations are already underway to commemorate both the win and their four decades in business.

Waseem said: "The restaurant was started 40 years ago by my father and has become a strong part of the Falkirk community.

"This award just goes to show the great local support we have gained over the years and it's a great way to start our anniversary celebrations this year."
