Fans of the American chain, known for its pancakes, doughnuts and burgers, won't have to wait much longer as Denny's has announced it is opening its doors in Glasgow.

The team posted a video on the brand's Facebook page, which revealed - after much speculation - that Denny's will open in Braehead shopping centre.

This will be Denny's first store restaurant in Scotland, with another UK outlet in Swansea.

The video hints that the restaurant may be where the Toby Carvery was situated, next to to Costa coffee shop by the M8 junction.

The news was well received by some, although other were disappointed that the new restaurant wasn't going to be in the city centre.

Lynne Middleton commented: "Braehead? Really? I was so looking forward to Denny’s coming to Glasgow coz it’s my favourite place to eat when I’m in America.

"But I was hoping it would be somewhere in the city centre. Braehead is just a bit too far out the way for me. Sorry guys but that’s a fail for me! ☹️☹️☹️ Xxxx"

But others were delighted, with Ayshe Kadir saying: “I actually cannot wait! I’ll just go through to Glasgow especially for it!”

Glasgow has seen an influx of North American and overseas chains open within the last year, with Smashburger, Taco Bell and Tim Hortons all making the city their home.
