The new drinks delivery service - Edinburgh Booze Delivery - launches on 29 April for pre-orders, and is offering locals the chance to shop cocktail menus online via a virtual shopping mall filled with their favourite capital bars.
For those looking to enhance their skills, online cocktail tutorials will also be available.
The Edinburgh Booze Delivery is a hybrid between an online off-licence and ‘one-stop, multi-bar shopping mall'.
For now, shoppers can enjoy mixed cocktails and cocktail packages as well as house party favourites from Panda & Sons, Hoot The Redeemer and Nauticus.
Edinburgh Booze Delivery will follow up with offerings from other capital cocktail haunts soon.
Customers can also buy wine, beer, spirits, mixers and snacks, as well as cocktail favourites and bespoke cocktail packages. which will be available for pick up from select locations set up for self distancing or via contactless delivery.
In terms of beers and spirits, the service will initially stock Pilot, Stewarts, Barney’s and Bellfield, as well as Electric Spirit and Port of Leith Distillery.
The new venture, by Imbibe’s Innovator of the Year 2020, Iain McPherson, aims to support the Edinburgh hospitality industry, initially by employing those who are not supported by the furlough scheme.
An allocation of any profits made from the drinks delivery" will be shared equally among the team.
Supporting local breweries and distilleries as well as bars, Iain wants to offer an alternate one stop shop route to market, aligned to the current needs of the public.
Iain says: "We need to think beyond lockdown. The government won't be able to support us forever and I want to start something that can act as a proven model, something that works that other cities can replicate too.
"We’re calling it the “pandamonium” business model. Something that will reignite the local hospitality economy for success going forward.”
Iain aims to start reemploying team members of his bars and others once the business is off the ground but for now he is working primarily with his business partner Sam Chapman and volunteers.
His hope is that, as other bars and businesses come on board, they will in turn be able re-employ additional hospitality professionals.
