A new fish and chip restaurant has opened on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, with some dishes under £10.

Fish and chips is best enjoyed by the coast, but Scotland’s cities are home to some of the best fish and chips in the country. Edinburgh has a range of popular chippies, serving one of the nation's most popular comfort foods. Now, Edinburgh based Vittoria Group has opened Landy's Restaurant - a new fish and chips eatery - on the Royal Mile.

Landy's is the hospitality group’s latest venture in the city having opened their first restaurant in 1970 in Leith.

The 7000 sq.ft restaurant in the former Byron Burger site on 29-31 North Bridge Edinburgh has an affordable menu that reinvents some traditional British chip shop dishes with several light options, all under £10.

Inspired by memories of seaside holidays, Landy's has the classic battered fish and chips and chip shop specials with a unique twist on Edinburgh’s famous chippy sauce. These include fish, battered pork sausage, haggis, black pudding, white pudding suppers and a deep fried pizza crunch supper.

Landy's extensive menu also includes some twists on the traditional breaded or battered haddock, such as Cajun spiced haddock, lemon and herb baked haddock and vegan fish and chips, as well as more hearty dishes like steak pie, steak burger, haggis neeps and tatties, mac'n'cheese, and a daily changing homemade pie.

For dessert, Landy's is catering to those tourists who won’t be able to find it in many other places, by serving the infamous deep fried Mars Bar.

Vittoria Group Director, Alberto Crolla said: "The capital's lively Old Town is the ideal location to expand our restaurant business to new and existing customers.

“Following the enormous success of our sister restaurant, Bertie's on Victoria Street, Landy's provides dining comfort food at its finest. We want to recreate the nostalgic appeal of fish and chips on the beach or by the sea with classic chip shop dishes at the heart of the menu".

Local design team Significant Others along with the main contractor Severinos were appointed by Vittoria Group to develop the £2 million investment in Landy's and 70 new jobs have been created with the expansion of Vittoria Groups restaurant portfolio in Edinburgh and the Lothians.

Vittoria Group owns several eateries in Edinburgh and the Lothians, including Divino Enoteca, Vittoria on the Bridge, Vittoria on the Walk, Berties, Taste of Italy, and Brunswick Book Club.
