The 125ml tubs of the special canine ice cream are proving massively popular at Cardwell Garden Centre, near Gourock.

The ice cream, which has been designed for dogs, contains supplements for helping to keep joints strong, Omega 3 oil for a glossy coat, Vitamin C for the immune system and Curcumin, which is a natural anti inflammatory.

Cardwell bosses started stocking the Scoop’s vanilla ice cream for dogs when they recently decided to allow all pet dogs into the centre – apart from the restaurant and food hall, where guide and hearing dogs are still allowed.

The centre’s retail general manager, Paul Carmichael said: “The weather this weekend has been fantastic.

“But when the sun is so hot we all need something to cool us down.

“Our Patio Restaurant is full of people looking for a refreshing cup of tea or an ice cold soft drink.

“And now we’re allowing pet pooches into the centre we thought we’d provide the dogs with their very own ice cream to keep them cool as well.”
