'Inspired and inspiring' new owners sought for charming Scottish island cafe

New leaseholders are being sought for a cafe on a popular Scottish island.

A cafe, which is part of an arts centre, is up for lease with an โ€œinspiring and inspiredโ€ person or person being sought.

The cafe is part of An Tobar and Mull Theatre, an arts centre located in the former Tobermory school building on Mull.

A post about the lease for the cafe reads: โ€œEver dreamed of running your own cafรฉ on a Hebridean island? Nowโ€™s your chance.

โ€œCafรฉ Lease at An Tobar โ€” A Space to Nourish Creativity

โ€œRun your own cafรฉ at An Tobar, Mullโ€™s vibrant arts hub. Set in Tobermoryโ€™s old school building, that was converted into an Arts Centre by the community, this stunning space offers sea views, a creative buzz, and welcomes over 25,000 visitors each year through performances, exhibitions, and learning events.

โ€œWeโ€™re looking for an inspired and inspiring leaseholder to bring fresh energy and flair to our much-loved cafรฉ. Whether you specialise in artisan coffee, delicious home baking, locally sourced meals, or something entirely unique โ€” weโ€™d love to hear your ideas.

โ€œExpect a steady stream of artists, musicians, locals, and tourists through your doors. The cafรฉ includes indoor and outdoor seating and a well-equipped, domestic-style kitchen โ€” and weโ€™re open to working with you on improvements to make the space truly yours.

โ€œWeโ€™re also expanding our programme of private events โ€” from weddings to parties โ€” and are keen to collaborate with our cafรฉ partner to make the most of these opportunities together.

โ€œFlexible, mutually beneficial lease arrangements are available. If you have a vision for how this cafรฉ could flourish, letโ€™s talk.โ€

The An Tobar arts centre opened in 1997 in the school that had lain empty since the 1970s.

An Tobar is Gaelic for "the well", traditionally both a source of sustenance or inspiration, but also a gathering place, and community involvement has been a central ethos for the centre.
