There’s nothing that builds the appetite more than 86 failed putting attempts.

If you know the feeling, you may be pleased to find that independent burger joint, Luxford, has popped up at Fore Play Crazy Golf on Edinburgh’s Picardy Place, and will be continuing its residency through to the summer.

“Luxford is one of Edinburgh’s most talked about burger joints and they’re the perfect fit for our crazy golf experience. We love collaborating with local businesses and we can’t wait for our guests to sink their teeth into their gourmet creations”, says Craig Neilson, chief greenkeeper, who looks after the course, which features nine holes, including ones that feature Greyfriars Bobby and the Scott Monument.

Luxford was launched in September 2020 during lockdown, as a dark kitchen providing a delivery service from Leith’s Albert Street.

At his newest pop-up, the young owner, Alex Galpin, will be offering a few of the dishes, all named after his favourite films, that are served at the St Leonard’s Street restaurant, which opened in the former premises of Aizle last year.

These include The Highlander, with two 4oz Scotch steak patties, double American cheese, crispy smoked streaky bacon, LUX sauce and pickles. They’ll also be serving The Chicken Run, which features crispy garlic chicken fillet also topped with that cheese, bacon and signature sauce. While, vegetarians can blow their doors off with The Italian Job, with fried halloumi wedges, sun-blush tomatoes, club dressing, wild rocket and red pepper pesto, and vegans might want to try The Shining - a blackened Cajun-spiced jackfruit burger with smashed avocado, vegan cheese, sriracha sauce and homemade sweet potato crisps.

Among other things, on the side, there will be sweet potato fries with rosemary sea salt and chicken katsu fries.

They’re also offering a Valentine’s package, available Thursday to Sunday, from February 7-27. Two Birdies Sitting in a Tree includes a glass of Prosecco on arrival, one round of golf, one Matchmaker’s Margarita - a strawberry margarita garnished with love heat gummies - another drink of your choice and a meal for £29.95pp.
