Tim Hortons have announced the opening date for their new Glasgow store

Good news everybody! Tim Hortons, the iconic Canadian coffee chain, have announced that they will be opening their first UK outlet, in Glasgow, on the 2nd of June.

The restaurant will open its doors at 9am, with the popularity of the chain sure to see queues of fans eager to be the first to try Tim Hortons famous coffee and Timbits.

Those who arrive at the new eatery and coffee house will be greeted by two Canadian “Mounties” and a number of exciting prizes will be up for grabs, including the chance to win a trip for two to Canada.

The first 100 people will be also be offered a free breakfast, and the first 10 lucky people in the queue will also receive 50 free Timbits – Tim Hortons signature bite-sized doughnut – every month, for one year.

The first in line will also get free coffee for a full year with their very own bespoke Tims card.

Gurprit Dhaliwal, COO of Tim Hortons UK and Ireland LTD, said: “We’re really excited to open our first Restaurant in Britain and the buzz we’ve been seeing has been unbelievable. With its burgeoning café culture, Glasgow is the ideal spot for our first location and we think Glaswegians will love our great coffee and delicious, freshly made food.

The Argyle Street location will be the first to open in Britain, before Tim Hortons takes its famous coffee, delicious baked goods and Canadian charm nationwide over the next 12 months.

The team described Glasgow as "modern and cosmopolitan" with a population "passionate about delicious food and great coffee", making it the perfect fit for the first Tim Hortons Restaurant.

Hugely popular in its homeland of Canada, the chain can be found on almost every corner throughout the country.

Founded by its namesake, a famous professional ice hockey player who wanted to create cafés where everyone would feel at home, the chain is now one of Canada’s most popular and beloved brands.

Almost eight out of 10 cups of coffee sold across Canada are served at Tim Hortons and more than 5.3 million Canadians – approximately 15 per cent of the population – visit Tim Hortons daily.

Across Great Britain, Tim Hortons said it will offer an extensive menu of drinks including its signature brewed coffee, espresso-based beverages such as lattes and flat whites, and the brand’s classic frozen Iced Capp.

Restaurants will also serve freshly prepared baked goods, and delicious breakfast and lunch items made from 100 per cent quality ingredients.
