“Tim Hortons is about Canadian charm, friendly culture and a strong sense of community and we want to invite everyone to come down and see us as soon as they can.”

The Argyle Street location will be the first to open in Britain, before Tim Hortons takes its famous coffee, delicious baked goods and Canadian charm nationwide over the next 12 months.

The team described Glasgow as “modern and cosmopolitan” with a population “passionate about delicious food and great coffee”, making it the perfect fit for the first Tim Hortons Restaurant.

Hugely popular in its homeland of Canada, the chain can be found on almost every corner throughout the country.

Founded by its namesake, a famous professional ice hockey player who wanted to create cafés where everyone would feel at home, the chain is now one of Canada’s most popular and beloved brands.

Almost eight out of 10 cups of coffee sold across Canada are served at Tim Hortons and more than 5.3 million Canadians – approximately 15 per cent of the population – visit Tim Hortons daily.

Elías Díaz Sesé, president of the Tim Hortons Brand, said: “The iconic Tim Hortons brand is known for its signature coffee, baked goods and delicious food all delivered through excellent Guest experiences every day. We are thrilled to be joining the Glasgow community, and we look forward to getting to know our Guests and sharing some of our favourite products with them.”

Across Great Britain, Tim Hortons said it will offer an extensive menu of drinks including its signature brewed coffee, espresso-based beverages such as lattes and flat whites, and the brand’s classic frozen Iced Capp.
