Six by Nico restaurants, which are currently the subject of a BBC Scotland documentary, will reopening in July.

The restaurants, which serve up a themed tasting menu that changes every six weeks, have become so popular that owner and chef, Nico Simeone has taken the concept to Manchester, Belfast and Liverpool - with plans to open in London back on track.

Fans of the restaurant have, during lockdown, been able to order a restaurant at home experience with Home by Nico, which offers a four course menu for four or two people to cook at home.

These have proved extremely popular, with themes like picnic, French Riviera and Italian selling out in minutes.

But now diners only have to wait a few weeks until they can experience Six by Nico in the restaurants once again.

Reopening dates

Posting on their social media and newsletter, the team announced that the Edinburgh and Glasgow Six by Nico restaurants will be reopening on Friday 17 July, with bookings being taken from 9am on Tuesday 30 June.

They said: "We are so excited to announce that we will be opening our doors, ready to welcome you all safely to Six by Nico Glasgow on Friday 17th July.

"We will also be open on Mondays to ensure you all get the chance to indulge with us again - what a wait this has been!

There will be social distancing measures in place, more information on which can be found on the Six by Nico website.

Fans of the restaurant have been able to follow Nico's journey on opening in Belfast, as Nico's Menu Mission aired on the BBC Scotland channel on Thursday 25 June.

In the four part series we follow 29 year old chef Nico on his mission to take his brand across the UK.

His idea – an affordable six course tasting menu which is changed every six weeks – is a huge hit on the restaurant scene in Scotland but the son of a chip shop owner is not prepared to rest on his laurels.
