Mimi's Bakehouse, which is an Edinburgh institution known and loved for its sweet treats, is set to open a new venue in the city.

Posting on the bakehouse's social media, owner Michelle (Mimi) captioned a picture of keys, writing: "Big news! We've got an exciting project baking in the oven in Comely Bank...watch this space. Love Mimi X"

Mimi's Bakehouse currently has five outlets in and around Edinburgh. Currently the Mimi's at the Shore, Corstorphine and Lauriston are open for collection and takeaway.

While the exact location is yet unknown, a cafe across from the Comley Bank Waitrose has recently been emptied so this could be the spot for the latest Mimi's.

Reactions to the post were extremely positive with many followers replying to express their excitement, and some requesting Mimi opens more bakeries in the city.

Mimi's Bakehouse is an award-winning family run bakery and, in normal times, is a popular spot for afternoon tea.

Serving up a selection of homemade cakes, the skilled bakery team is led by Mimi’s daughter and head baker, Gemma Clearie who works hard to create a mix of traditional classics and creative inventions.

In early 2020 the Leith Mimi's Bakehouse was transformed into "Sweets and Treats", the shop owned by Vanessa Hudgens' character Stacy in the Netflix film The Princess Switch, as filming began on the sequel.
