Working in partnership with chef-patron Campbell Mickel’s catering company Exec Chef Cuisine, the restaurant will be delivering some of its Michelin award-winning food to fill people's freezers.
Merienda – which means snack in Spanish – say the menu will cater for allergies where possible and will also involve the optional extra of wine too.
Campbell says he wants to ensure people can still enjoy incredible food, even in self-isolation. Picture: Merienda
Campbell said: "We understand the fear and the necessity to self-isolate. So people are absolutely panicking and the supermarkets can't keep up.
"We have cleared the supply chain with all our suppliers and we are set to go. The menu will be Classics that you can heat either oven or microwave and be eating restaurant standard food, healthy, fresh and delicious without leaving home.
Speaking about the new service, Campbel explained that all customers have to do is download the menu slip, which includes soups, their themed small plates (in serving sizes from one through to four people) and even desserts, fill it in, pay and send it back.
The kitchen will then start preparing your meal, which Campbell says will feature the freshest ingredients and be given the same care and attention they give to all of their dishes in the restaurant, before sending a three-hour delivery window for the following day.
A curbside drop-off/collection and no-contact service, the Merienda founder said they aim to remove the need for direct contact for both parties.
"We want to help our customers get through this while keeping our suppliers going with a little bit of business. We can keep our staff isolated from the public and at delivery, we will drop and ring the bell allowing the person to stay well away from our delivery crew too.
"All payment is online to minimise contact with the public. We also have an off licence and will be supplying fabulous wine which will undoubtedly help get people through this trying time."
Anyone ordering wine will need to show I.D. on delivery and sign - using their own pen - for it.
Opened in the Stockbridge area of the city in September 2018, Merienda aims to bring together Mediterranean flavour with the “very best of Scottish produce”.
The Social Distancing Menu slip is available on the restaurant's website while people with orders or queries can contact enquiries@eat-merienda.com or call 0131 220 2020.
