Choosing somewhere to take your partner on a night out is always a bit of a dilemma. Whether you’ve been out with them for a few weeks or several decades, you’re always out to impress and ensure your other half has a great time.

With this in mind, we’ve done the hard work for you and picked out some of the best places and events to check out in Aberdeen this weekend:

Fine Dining for two at the IX restaurant

Dining doesn't come any finer than at the IX Restaurant at the Chester Hotel. Having just achieved two AA Rosettes, the restaurant is starting to get noticed for its excellent menu and five star service.

Classically trained, award winning executive chef Kevin Dalgleish and his team will cook your desired dish to perfection on the Josper grill, while you enjoy the intimacy of private dining in the Granite Balcony, which has exceptional views of the south of the city.

Cocktails at The Tippling House

(4 Belmont Street, Aberdeen, AB10 1JE)

One of Aberdeen’s finest cocktail bars is situated in the heart of the city's lively Belmont Street - which also happens to feature some other excellent bars and restaurants.

The Tippling House is famed for its award-winning cocktails, craft beers and features produce from local suppliers including artisan cheeses from I. J Mellis and luxury chocolates from Cocoa Ooze.

Island cafe with stunning views to team up with Michelin-recommended Edinburgh restaurant for one-off supper club

So pull up a pew, relax and watch the mixologists create some magic in front of you.

Enjoy a beer in the sun at the Albyn

(11 Albyn Place, AB10 1YE; Tel: 01224 211666)

Ok, so we are eternal optimists but should the sun show its face over the weekend then there can be fewer better places to enjoy the sunshine than at the Albyn.

A large sun trap flanked by leafy trees and decorative shrubs, you can’t go wrong with their beer garden. A nice cold beer or some cocktails as you while away an afternoon as you enjoy each other's company is enough to make you forget that you’re not abroad.

New Scottish restaurants added to the Good Food Guide

If the evening chill factor gets too much, you can always move inside and make a night of it in the bar with live music on most nights.

Enjoy a curry at The Jewel in the Crown

(145 Crown Street, Aberdeen AB11 6HP, 01224 210288)

The chances are that if you ask an Aberdeen native what their favourite Indian restaurant is, there is a good chance that a large portion will say The Jewel in the Crown.

The owner Farooq, who runs the restaurant with his four sons, is a master at blending the traditional spices used in all of his dishes and coupled with the locally sourced ingredients, each presents a truly unique take on some classic meals.

El Perro Negro and Ka Pao team up for kitchen takeover in Glasgow

The service is second to none (and includes heated hand towels) and the dishes are usually big enough to feed two, so they are usually great value for money.

We definitely recommend any of the Gosht dishes, the lamb is superb.

Rediscover your inner child with a Sunday Fun Day at Ardene House

(Ardene House Veterinary Hospital, Skene Road, Kingswells , AB15 8PJ)
