Glasgow restaurant The Finnieston is hosting an oyster and whisky festival to celebrate the launch of its new oyster bar.

To launch its brand new Oyster Bar, The Finnieston is hosting The Oyster and Whisky Festival over the weekend of the 11 and 12 September.

Diners can tuck into various seafood dishes, from a plate of oysters to mixed shellfish, in the restaurant before heading up to the new oyster bar for a selection of cocktails and whisky flights.

Located in the bar above the Finnieston, the newly opened oyster bar will serve Scottish seafood and whisky cocktails and drams.

The oyster and whisky festival

As well as seafood dining packages in The Finnieston restaurant, The Oyster and Whisky Festival will host two consecutive nights of whisky tastings.

Taking place in the Oyster Bar from 9pm, whisky experts will host the sessions with guests sampling a selection of drams alongside canapes and cocktails.

On Friday night, Johnnie Walker brand ambassador, Alistair Reynolds, will take guests through some of the brands most iconic blends.

Whisky fans will enjoy Johnnie Walker Black Label, Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve, and Johnnie Walker Blue Label paired with canapes.

Saturday night’s tasting will be centred on Single Malts, with Diageo’s Scotch whisky ambassador, TJ Littlejohn, talking guests through some of Scotland’s Island malts – Talisker 10 Year Old, Lagavulin 16 Year Old and Caol Ila 15 Year Old.

After each tasting, guests will be able to enjoy a selection of bespoke whisky cocktails from the new Oyster Bar cocktail menu, paired alongside the signature amuse-bouche menu.

Taking place at 9pm on Friday and Saturday, the whisky tastings are priced at £15 per person and are available to book online now.

Tickets include three drams and three paired canapes.

Seafood packages in The Finnieston are available from 5pm all weekend, and include:

Two cocktails & 12 Oysters for 2 – £25
Four cocktails & 24 Oysters for 2 – £50

With the safety of customers and staff The Finnieston’s number one priority, the Oyster Bar will be operating at a reduced capacity to ensure that social distancing is adhered to.

As well as temperature checks on arrival, staff will ask diners for their contact information for the purposes of NHS Test and Protect.

Hand sanitiser will be available throughout the bar and restaurant, all staff will be wearing appropriate PPE and Perspex screens will separate booths – ensuring diners have a safe and enjoyable experience.
