North Uist Distillery Co have released their first pre-mixed cocktail for mail order dispatch this December - and a Downpour Oak Aged Negroni is one of two new pre-sale releases from the Downpour Gin collection.

With cocktails at home becoming a trend during lockdown, this timely special release comes ahead of the festive season for people to enjoy at home this Christmas.

First mixed for Count Camillo Negroni in Florence, the Negroni cocktail is a clever adaptation of the Americano cocktail - in this instance Downpour Scottish Dry Gin is aged in oak casks to add extra depth and complexity.

It’s then carefully blended with sweet vermouth and bitter amaro.

Co-Founders Jonny Ingledew and Kate MacDonald launched their first product Downpour Gin in April 2019 and have been busy dispatching orders from the Outer Hebrides ever since.

Kate MacDonald said: “We wanted to create a premium cocktail for people to enjoy during lockdown.

"This cocktail is pre-mixed so there is no preparation involved, just pour it over ice, stir and garnish with fresh orange peel.

"It’s something special to enjoy at home and easy to take with you to any outdoor gathering - socially distanced of course!”

In addition to this new cocktail, the distillery also announced the launch of their new Downpour Pink Grapefruit Gin. This zesty edition is described as bright and full of juicy flavours.

Head distiller Jonny Ingledew said: “This version of Downpour Gin is all about the freshness and we’ve captured this by using plenty of fresh pink grapefruits to get a big bold flavour. We also added pink peppercorns to dazzle the fruity taste buds.”

The recommended serve for Downpour Pink Grapefruit Gin is to pour over ice, partner with a premium tonic and garnish with a slice of pink grapefruit.

These two new spirits will be ready to dispatch in December and you can pre-order from the website now.
