The Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare selection launched with the first release from the closed distillery, Brora. This bottling included a bled of eight whiskies including three 'ghost' additions from  the silent distilleries of Cambus, Pittyvaich and Brora, which brought a touch of peat to the mix.

Johnnie Walker Master Blender, Dr. Jim Beveridge, has long been fascinated by how whiskies from a small number of iconic distilleries that closed many years ago can bring a richness for which this Johnnie Walker brand is known for.

The Glenury Royal distillery, which is now demolished, operated under a number of different owners between 1825 and 1985, when it closed for the final time.

The Johnnie Walker Blue Label team say: "This award-winning whisky is handcrafted in small batches using bespoke vattings of rare whiskies matured in Sherry casks. In the Johnnie Walker portfolio of whiskies only Johnnie Walker Blue Label is crafted in this way.

"This latest edition explores sumptuous orchard fruits, sweet apple and delicate apricot notes and beautifully heightened by the creamy  toffee and butterscotch flavour, offering the perfect gift this Christmas."

The Glenury Royal Johnnie Walker Blue Label is available to buy now with an RRP of £274.90
