Edinburgh Gin Distillery has announced that it will temporarily halt its distillery tastings - and instead will bring back return its virtual Wee Wonders tastings with a new, convenient click-and-collect service.

In line with the revised Scottish Government Covid-19 measures, all distillery experiences have had to pause from Saturday 10 October until Monday 26 October.

But Edinburgh Gin have vowed to help fans across the UK enjoy themselves at home by bringing back their incredibly popular Wee Wonders tasting experience.

Normally just available for home delivery, the brand has now added an exciting click-and-collect option, giving people from nearby areas the chance to pick up their kits directly from the distillery.

How it works

Participants are guided through a selection of Edinburgh Gin’s range of award-winning London Drys, flavoured gin, and gin liqueurs.

A member of the distillery team will lead a talk through the production process, botanicals, and history that is poured into each gin, while viewers sip from the comfort of their own homes.

Each booking is for two, making this an ideal event for an evening in with loved ones.

For those looking to take part, they can simply book a slot via Edinburgh Gin’s website and a bespoke tasting pack will be available in advance, which includes:

Irn-Bru ice cream truck to visit Edinburgh ahead of Harry Styles concert

5 x 50ml Edinburgh Gin miniatures (Cannonball, Seaside, and Classic, full-strength Rhubarb and Ginger gin, and Pomegranate & Rose liqueur)

2 x 200ml bottles of premium mixers

A ticket to an online tasting session on Zoom

Priced at £40 per tasting, the Wee Wonders kicks off from Thursday 15 October.

For the first week of evening sessions, the packs will only be available to the people of Edinburgh and surrounding areas who will be able to collect their boxes from the distillery.

The following week will then be open to people across the UK, who will receive a Wee Wonders kit to their home address.

While the distillery tours are on hold, Edinburgh Gin Distillery’s on-site shops will remain open – meaning customers can still visit and chat with friendly brand ambassadors, before picking up their favourite bottles to take home.

The shop will feature all of Edinburgh Gin’s range, including the recently launched Poached Pear liqueur – the perfect winter warmer for a cosy night in.

Neil Mowat, UK marketing director of Ian Macleod Distillers, said: “We know these are challenging times, but Edinburgh Gin want to make it easier for people to come together and enjoy special moments with one another, even virtually.

“Our Wee Wonders online tasting experiences were a huge hit this summer, with hundreds of participants signing up to enjoy an evening in with friends and loved ones. With the addition of our click-and-collect service, their return is bigger and better than ever.

“We pride ourselves on having a remarkable range best enjoyed with great company, and these evening sessions allow participants to do just that, while learning all about our wonder-filled gins.

“So get booking, fill up your glass, relax, and let’s enjoy these Wee Wonders together.”

For those who had tastings booked within the window of closure, the Edinburgh Gin team will be contacting them to rearrange or refund their tickets in the coming days.
