Edinburgh Coffee Festival 2019: Workshops, coffee garden and sustainability on the menu this year

Saturday 5 October sees the return of the Edinburgh Coffee Festival at the Corn Exchange, and it is set to be bigger than ever.

The Edinburgh Coffee Festival aims to focus on coffee knowledge and taste and well as sustainability, which is a key theme again this year.

New for this year is the Coffee Garden, which will highlight the Royal Botanic Garden's work to address the issue of worldwide plant conservation including their work in Colombia and how climate change may affect coffee production.

Alistair Gower from The Chocolate Tree will also be in attendance to give an intriguing talk called 'Saving the planet with Chocolate' - something most people surely wouldn’t hesitate to get behind.

What to expect

The festival, which attracts over 2000 visitors, will also play host to over 40 speciality coffee and tea exhibitors, showcasing just how dynamic the coffee scene in Scotland is.

The festival will focus on teas and hot chocolates as well as baking, cakes and other food and drink.

Edinburgh Coffee Festival 2019 also includes:

Talks, demonstrations and cuppings, plus interactive free coffee skills workshops (including hour long sessions with the Speciality Coffee Association, as well as a more in-depth, paid for, course which include free entry to the festival), tastings and demonstrations such as masterclasses in tea brewing. Advance booking is required.

Stalls by local roasters and coffee shops, cake makers, hot chocolate specialists, hot and cold street food, sellers of brewing equipment and more.

Exhibitors include: Brewlab, Farm Boy Brews, Daterra Coffee, Alpro, Chocolate Tree, Django Coffee Co., Hasbean Coffee, Caravan Coffee Roasters, Edinburgh Tea and Coffee Company and many more. A full list can be found on the website.

Scotland's national heat of The World AeroPress Championship (a global coffee-making competition, designed to find the world's best AeroPress brew and sponsored by iZettle), the final of which takes place in London in November.

Zero waste event


The festival is supported by award-winning catering disposables company Vegware and welcomes glassware brand SoLCups and Revive-Eco who will be collecting all of the coffee grounds and extracting their high value oils for use in a variety of industries from pharmaceuticals to cosmetics.
