165 beers, all brewed in Scotland and in bottled and canned form, have been registered for the Scottish Beer Awards and organisers will now stage an intensive judging session which will see 20 beer experts put through their paces in a blind tasting later this month.
The breweries are now preparing written entries in 8 categories covering business performance which will also be judged by the same industry panel.
Kirsten Speirs, Director of KDMedia which is running the programme said: “Brewers across Scotland have come forward in great numbers and we have welcomed large scale traditional brands to established and emerging craft brewers.
"Our judging panel of 20 industry experts are now preparing for an intensive day of judging written entries and blind tasting 165 beers across 8 category types.
“It is a tremendously exciting time for brewing in Scotland and we are really honoured to be staging a celebration which hard working Scottish brewers deserve. We very much looking forward to awarding prizes to the best beers brewed in Scotland this year.”
Registered brewers are now being asked to complete their written submissions online uploading up to 1000 words, images and logos at www.scottishbeerawards.co.uk/enternow before Friday 20 May 2016. The 8 business performance categories are:
