Edinburgh beer lovers get a new taproom as Bellfield Brewery opens its doors

Edinburgh beer lovers have a new taproom to enjoy as Bellfield Brewery opens its doors.

Located a short distance from the Scottish Parliament building, Bellfield Brewery taproom in Abbeyhill is set to offer visitors their award-winning beers on keg and cask, fresh from the brewery.

As well as enjoying their exciting range of brews, the gluten-free and vegan beer specialists say visitors can also book in for tours of the 2000 litre brewhouse with one of Bellfield’s two brewers and enjoy a tasting at the end.

The 130 capacity taproom and brewhouse are wheelchair accessible and the Bellfield staff stated that they also welcomes families with children and visitors with friendly dogs.

As well as the taproom, they also have an outdoor yard with beer tables and benches and occasional sightings of the Flying Scotsman and the LMS Black Five steam locomotive.

Future plans for the site include a series of regular events – quiz nights, book clubs, film and music nights and visiting, pop-up food trucks.

Speaking about the Bellfield’s recent developments and the new taproom, managing director Alistair Brown said: “First and foremost, we aim to brew beers that taste great while also being gluten free and vegan, so everyone can enjoy them.

“Many microbreweries like ourselves – including Barney’s, Campervan and Stewarts in Edinburgh - now have tap rooms where visitors can enjoy a beer that’s super fresh, brewed on site.

“We are a short walk from the city centre, so we hope beer tourists, locals and craft beer enthusiasts will seek us out.

“Abbeyhill is fast becoming another lively Edinburgh ‘village’ with some great food and drink on offer such as our lunchtime favourite, The Safari Lounge.”

Located on Stanley Place, the taproom will be open Fridays (5-10pm), Saturdays (2pm-10pm) and Sundays (12-8pm).
