The owners of Scotland's smallest pub are set to add to their growing gin library... with a unique new haggis gin.

If you’re looking for something different to toast Burns night with, then this new Haggis Gin may be the what you’re after.

Launched by DeliQuescent, the owners of which also have Rutherfords Micropub (Scotland’s smallest pub) in Kelso, the Haggis Gin has will be released during their Burns Lite event on the 25th January.

Debbie and Simon Rutherford of DeliQuescent and Rutherfords Micropub said: “DeliQuescent was born out of a real drive for gins with a difference at our tiny pub in Kelso.

“Our customers said they were getting tired of regular gins with a ‘hint of this’ and a ‘whiff of that’. They wanted something totally new and unique. So we devised a range that gave the saturated market something fresh, new and innovative.  Our shimmering Parma Violet and colour changing Rose gins soon put us on the map.

“Now we have come up with another world first – Haggis Gin! This unique gin will be launched at our ‘Burns Lite‘ night on 25th January.  We hope to have the ‘Haggis’ piped in  by local piper (who regularly supports the band, The Farm), Sandy Devers, and addressed by Jesse Rae.”

The Haggis gin is totally vegan, gluten free and meat free and should be served with tonic and a citrus garnish.

Debbie and Simon researched lots of recipes for traditional haggis, and narrowed down the key spices which give the dish its unique flavour. Then they experimented until they came up with a tasty Haggis-inspired drink, which they hope will be a good alternative to whisky for those that love gin.

The Haggis gin will be available to buy from Rutherfords Micropub, online and in selected off licenses.
