How to get sushi delivered to your desk for lunch

Looking for some fresh, quality sushi to enjoy on your work break? Here are some great ways to get it delivered straight to your office.

If you are a fan of seafood and/or Japanese food then you'll know there is nothing better than fresh sushi.

Store bought versions from supermarkets can often be disappointing so how do you get fresh sushi delivered to your desk?

Deliveroo

"In our platform [Deliveroo], all restaurants have to do is cook the food, and we take it and bring it to people, which means we can work with a higher class of restaurant." said Will Shu, founder of Deliveroo when discussing the business start-up in an interview with the BBC last year.

The service, which arrived in Scotland towards the end of 2015, gives access to some of the best restaurants the country has to offer, all from the comfort of their own home.

Simply, sign up the site, pick the cuisine or restaurant you want to order from and order the food, which, according to the people running Deliveroo, will be delivered to you in less than the average wait time of around 32 minutes.

The best part is they are happy to deliver to your office and they give you access to some of the best sushi places in both Edinburgh and Glasgow (with the rest of Scotland soon to follow):

Edinburgh

Aji Sushi -   Situated in Newington, Aji Sushi specialise in sushi rolls ranging from the Green Dragon Roll - Shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber, fish roe & mayo - through to the Dynamite Roll - Avocado, cucumber, shrimp tempura, fish roe & cream cheese.

Bonsai Bar Bistro - Possibly Edinburgh's coolest sushi bar, Bonsai Bar Bistro do some really unique sushi including their interesting inside out rolls. With some of the best value platters on this list, BBB offers loads of sushi at great prices.

Glasgow

Sapporo - offering some of the best sushi around, Sapporo - the city's premier Tepinyaki restaurant - has Nigiri, sashimi and Uzukuri and best of all sharing platters ranging from 8 pieces to 18, perfect for a busy office.

Pickled Ginger - Fast gaining popularity as one of the city's best Japanese restaurants, Pickled Ginger offers an even more extensive range than sapporo, offering not even the standard Nigiri and sashimi but also Temaki and Gunkan, as well as some great sharing platters with up to sixty pieces of sushi.

Deliveroo are still expanding and should arrive and expand their operations in Dundee and Aberdeen later this year.

Though this option is more limited, as many Japanese restaurants don't deliver themselves, there are still a few that do. The biggest problem with this option is that it is really down to the delivery efficiency of the restaurant themselves and also the size of their delivery area.

Edinburgh -

Strangely, most of Edinburgh's Japanese restaurants aren't open at lunch time though the few that are worth checking out.

Ichiban - We have two words for you, Fried Gunkan, seriously check it out but we also recommend their excellent donburi - Slices of sashimi placed on top of vinegar rice, served with miso soup - and their wonderful sushi platters.

Miso Sushi - Another excellent capital offering, which has an extensive array of excellent sushi, as well as many other pan-Asian treats including one of our favourites, steamed Dim Sum.

Glasgow -

Central Sushi - The new kid on the block is already shaping up to an exciting prospect, with all the standard offerings plus a few extras like their sashimi sets and temaki hand rolls. Best of all you'll get 20 per cent off just now with any order over £15

Cailins Sushi - One of Glasgow's best - and probably least known - sushi specialists, concentrating on providing everything from nigiri right through to Gunkan and Hosomaki. We can't recommend the Tiger roll - Salmon, avocado, crab stick & Japanese mayonnaise - and (for the brave) the volcano roll - Salmon, crab stick, Chinese leaves, fish roe & spicy mayo. Their sushi combo boxes are also great value.
