On Monday, listener Sarah from Newmachar spoke to Greg and revealed that she had never had a Cornish pasty before, which prompted the host to arrange for the famous snack to be sent, via listeners travelling on road and rail, from Cornwall to Newmachar in Aberdeenshire, where it arrived this morning.
Now Visit Aberdeenshire has launched a campaign to return a Rowie to Cornwall, via the Twitter hastag #PassTheRowie.
People of #Aberdeen, #Aberdeenshire and beyond - help us get #PassTheRowie trending so someone in #Cornwall can taste Aberdeen's own local delicacy for the first time. ๐๐ #PassThePasty pic.twitter.com/DtMDq0ro6F

The hilarity started on Monday morning, with Greg James making this announcement.
.@gregjames is sending a pasty from Cornwall to listener Sarah in Aberdeenshire, who has never had a pasty before! And we want the help of YOU our wonderful listeners. If youโre near the pasty and can help it on its journey, then please get in touch to help us out #PassThePasty pic.twitter.com/xNERzIR1yW

Listeners have been gripped all week, with the hashtag #PassThePasty trending on Twitter (and no doubt confusing anyone who doesn't tune into the breakfast show).
The pasty, which was baked in the award-winning Chough Bakery in Padstow, Cornwall, made 19 stops and took four days to get from Cornwall to Aberdeenshire.
The radio station also created a dedicated pasty map so the progress could be tracked.
Friends were encouraging each other to get involved as pasty fever took hold, and businesses wanted to get involved as well.

The pasty's journey included a ferry trip from Padstow, leading the Tour of Britain and a front row seat on the famous Flying Scotsman steam train.

Many people had questions about the pasty and its journey, which were answered, randomly, by pop star and ex One Direction member, Louis Tomlinson.
๐ค Where will the pasty stay at night? ๐ด

At this point, quite a few people were concerned for the state of the pasty and if it would be edible by the time it got to Sarah.
I'm assuming that after a week on the road there's no way she's even going to eat it?! So still won't have eaten a pasty!

After being escorted by two soldiers from The Black Watch 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland and piped by local bagpiper, Chris, to Sarah's house, the pasty was heated up - thanks to chef Matthew from nearby Newmachar hotel - and eaten by Sarah who 'loved it'.
Haha Iโm Sarahโs #passthepasty neighbour.. itโs not everyday you come out of your house and meet Radio1.. whatโs happening outside my house and whoโs car is that in my driveway ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ too funny ..
