Enroot is a nomadic, grassroots venture that travels around hosting farm-to-table events in collaboration with local farmers and businesses alike. We strongly believe that there is an ever increasing disconnect between the food people eat and the farmers who produce it.
Enroot’s ambition is to bridge the widening gap between producers and consumers by removing the barriers separating them. We aim to contribute to local communities by means of initiating conversation around the table.
The food we provide will be carefully sourced and curated in an effort to facilitate a shared experience in hope of generating sustained relationships. Our desire for communal dialogue involves resurrecting lost knowledge, building upon existing relations and creating a way for the general public to understand the value of the generations of knowledge embodied in any one farm or farmer. It is our hope that we can help secure a future for small-scale British farming operations.
Currently there is an emphasis on the struggling dairy industry but the sad reality is that farming—across the board—is being affected by large corporations, whether it be sheep farming, beef
farming, fish farming or vegetable farming all aspects of the agricultural industry are being undervalued. This summer Enroot travelled around the UK; after visiting farms in Shropshire,
Gloucestershire and North Wales the team has encountered some inspiring producers and reconnected local communities with the fantastic produce that they have right at their doorstep.
Enroot is now gearing up for our final event of the summer that takes place this weekend. In collaboration with Henderson’s, we want to show our guests that a quality meal can be meat-free,
unconventional, yet still delicious. Reducing national meat consumption is just as important a gesture towards a single person’s health as it is to supporting the consumption of quality dairy products.
It is very important to Enroot’s mission that the conversation they generate around the table is productive and considerate, to help one another gain a better understanding of the food we consume.
Enroot aims to benefit the people we work with by initiating a communal dialogue rooted in health and education as we talk to one another all at the same table. Enroot’s pay-as-you-wish events will bring together a diverse group of guests including farmers, foragers, chefs, artists, writers and more. Join the collective this weekend for a four-course vegetarian meal and drink pairings at Henderson’s Cafe & Deli.
