The top 50 UK Gastropubs have been named, at an event in Suffolk - and only one in Scotland made the list.

The Parkers Arms in Clitheroe has been named the UK’s top gastropub by the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs list 2023.

Having been voted number two last year and now topping this year’s makes for an exciting achievement for the female-owned pub, headed up by Kathy Smith and Stosie Madi.

The south of England dominated this year’s list, claiming 22 of the Top 50 while the north of England wasn’t far behind, claiming 16 of the top 50 spots.

Despite Scotland being home to many a great gastropub, only one made the list - Scran and Scallie in Edinburgh, which came in at 38.

Within the top 100, The Ship Inn at Elie was named at number 82 and was the only other Scottish business in the full list.

Last year no Scottish pubs made the top 50 list, with Tom Kitchin's Scran and Scallie in Edinburgh and The Bonnie Badger in Gullane, along with The Ship Inn in Elie mentioned within the top 100.
