Iconic tinned pie brand Fray Bentos launches new vegan pie

Pie lovers across the UK will soon be able to get their hands on a new vegan pie - the first ever plant-based product released by iconic brand Fray Bentos.

The firm, which is now produced in Scotland and is known for its iconic tinned pie range, will be launching its Vegan Steak & Kidney Bean Pie from next week.

The first vegan offering in 140 years, the new pie is described as being packed with a "perfect filling of vegan tofu ‘steak’, kidney beans and vegan gravy" and topped with a deliciously light and tasty vegan puff pastry.

Having launched a vegetarian balti pie in 2018, the pie firm then worked closely with PETA to launch the new vegan pie at the organisation's awards event in late 2019 where it took home a top prize.

Available exclusively at Tesco from the 6th April, the new product is priced at just £2.

A spokesperson for the brand said: "Ideal for vegans, vegetarians or flexitarians who are craving a quick meal, the new Vegan Steak & Kidney Bean Pie is ready to serve in just 25 minutes."
