To celebrate the long-awaited launch of Holyrood Distillery’s inaugural whisky, Arrival, the distillery is offering free drams and tours to Edinburgh locals.

Those with an Edinburgh postcode can look forward to live music, a complimentary tour of the distillery and the opportunity to be one of the first to taste the new whisky, at an event on Saturday 7 October.

Officially launching on Friday 6 October, Arrival is one of the first single malt whiskies produced in Edinburgh in a century.

It is distilled from the heart of the historic old town, with striking views of Salisbury Crags; in a refurbished ‘engine shed’, once part of the terminus of the Innocent Railway .

Founded in 2019, Holyrood Distillery is dedicated to producing spirits that are truly worthy of Scotland’s capital city and its proud past as a centre of brewing and distilling.

Debs Newman, General Manager for Holyrood Distillery, said of the launch: “This year Edinburgh has been well and truly placed back on the whisky-making-map, and we want to take a moment - with our neighbours and other Edinburgers - to raise a dram to this on Saturday 7 October.

"Just as the distillery is a part of Edinburgh, our city and its people, heritage and culture are what we draw inspiration from every day.

"Our whisky has been quietly maturing, and we are so excited to now share itwith the people of Edinburgh.”

Calum Rae, Distillery Manager, added: “Just as Edinburgh is made up of contrasting elements - modernity and heritage, the Old Town and the New Town, Arrival brings sweet and spice together in a banging dram."

"Taking a sip, there’s digestive biscuit and ginger spice, with a wee savoury note. The finish is mouth watering and for such a young whisky, there’s a surprising amount of complexity.”

Those looking to get their hands on Arrival will have to be quick with only a limited number of bottles available to purchase.

The whisky will be available in the Holyrood Distillery shop, on their website and in specialist stores such as The Whisky Shop, Royal Mile Whiskies, The Whisky Exchange, Robert Graham 1874 Whisky, Jeffrey Street Whisky, Good Spirits Company and Master of Malt. The RRP is £67
