Taste of success for West Lothian College’s The Terrace Restaurant

West Lothian College’s The Terrace Restaurant was crowned Restaurant of the Year at the recent Food Awards Scotland 2015.

The restaurant, which helps the next generation of Hospitality and Professional Cookery students hone their skills for a successful career in the industry, beat big city restaurants and those with Michelin Stars, such as The Kitchin in Edinburgh, to the top accolade.

The Terrace also picked up best restaurant in the South East region of Scotland at the awards, which are judged on genuine reviews via word of mouth and Trip Advisor, where the Terrace is consistently West Lothian’s top-rated restaurant.

West Lothian College Principal Mhairi Harrington said: “Everyone at West Lothian College delighted that The Terrace Restaurant has won two awards at the Food Awards Scotland 2015, including the top Restaurant of the Year trophy.

“It’s a fantastic achievement for both the students who work in The Terrace and the staff who support them. To win against some of the top professional restaurants in Scotland is an amazing achievement and demonstrates the culinary skills and high level of customer care that is delivered consistently throughout the year by West Lothian College students.

“By operating our very successful restaurant, the students are better prepared to meet and exceed the needs of sophisticated and demanding restaurant customers. The courses we have on offer are a great stepping stone to an exciting and rewarding career in the Hospitality and Tourism sector, with 98% of graduates from 2014 now in either further study or employment.”

Comments on Trip Advisor from diners at The Terrace included “Outstanding service from start to finish.”, “Excellent food at great price with attentive staff and great service.” and “The students may change every year but the standard of the food remains consistently high.”
