As the entire restaurant sector looks for ways to survive during the global pandemic, itison has unveiled an investment to launch a new premium restaurant home delivery service, launching on Thursday 25 June.

itison are working with Glasgow’s leading restaurants to give customers restaurant quality dining experiences at home - with exclusive menus available for delivery or collection - and a new restaurant to be revealed each week.

Itison and Ka Pao

The first delivery for itison at Home will be  with Ka Pao, which opened in the Botanic Garage building in early 2020 and very quickly became a popular dining spot in the west end.

Ka Pao - from the team behind Kelvingrove’s Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant Ox and Finch - was the most hotly anticipated restaurant to open this year.

In the short months of opening pre-lockdown, Ka Pao quickly cemented itself as the top spot in the city, with tables booked out weeks in advance to sample a menu influenced by the cooking of South East Asia.

Now customers will be able to enjoy the very best of their menu to plate up at home, with seven dishes to share for £45, either collected from the restaurant on Vinicombe Street, located off Byres Road, or delivered directly to your door.

Oli Norman, CEO of itison said: “Scotland’s entire hospitality sector has been decimated by Covid, and it’s vital we all innovate to survive.

"Along with our partner restaurants we’re really excited to be investing in a new delivery and collection service with the best our amazing city has to offer.

“Itison was founded and flourished during the last recession. This time it’s very different with everyone being thrust into survival and start up mode, and just as we were determined to support local businesses then, the mission has become even more critical now.

“We’re really excited to have Ka Pao on board for the launch of itison at Home. Jonathan and his team have created an incredible at home dining experience that I’ll be first in line for.”

Jonathan MacDonald, owner of Ka Pao said: “We are pleased to be partnering with itison at the beginning of their new home dining service.

"Our team of chefs are looking forward to returning to the kitchens, firing up the ranges at Ka Pao after an absence of over three months and preparing some of our most popular dishes.

"It will be great to reintroduce Ka Pao’s food to the dining public of Glasgow – hopefully they haven’t forgotten about us, of course - and give people the chance to recreate Ka Pao dishes in their own homes.”

How it'll work

Customers can pre-order the dining experience for collection or delivery in the Greater Glasgow area.

Food can be collected or delivered and will arrive with the menu and set of instructions from the restaurant’s chefs on how to plate up just the way they do.

Ka Pao’s menu will go on sale next Thursday 25th June at 9am, exclusively on the itison website.
