Mosque Kitchen

(31-33 Nicolson Square, Edinburgh EH8 9BX)

Tuck into a vegan-friendly lunch for under a fiver at the much loved Mosque Kitchen on Nicolson Square.

The kitchen, which used to cater just for its congregation when it first began in the 80s, opened its doors to non-Muslims following the attack on the World Trade Center's twin towers in New York in 2001 and is still going strong.

Join a host of students, performers and anyone that loves a good, cheap curry in the bustling venue.

Kampung Ali

(28 Clerk St, Edinburgh EH8 9HX)

Pick up a delicious lunch from this Malaysian favourite. For only £5.50 diners can either sit in or takeaway and enjoy authentic dishes such as Chicken Nasi Goring, Curry Laksa soup and Hakka pork.

Set dishes and specials of the day will also make for a quick, easy and tasty dinner if you're out later.
