Three Chimneys named in top 20 European restaurants by Trip Advisor users

A Skye based eatery has been named in the top 5 UK and top 20 European restaurants according to the annual Travellers’ Choice Awards announced today by TripAdvisor.

The Three Chimneys restaurant, which serves the best produce, ingredients and dishes from the Isle Skye, using a mixture of Scottish and Nordic influences, is widely considered to be a destination experience for tourists visiting Scotland from all over the world.

The Three Chimneys team were lauded for "continuing to fly the flag for the island’s wealth of ingredients" and their "first class standard of hospitality".

Aimed at highlighting “the very best of travel, chosen by millions of travellers” and celebrating what users consider to be the "best-rated fine dining establishments around the world", the awards are based purely on the consistency and standard of reviews and ratings of customers over a 12 month period, rather than a panel of judges.

Edinburgh's Aizle also made it in to the Travellers’ Choice Favourite Fine Dining Restaurants top 10.

Scott Davies, Head Chef at The Three Chimneys, said they were delighted to receive the news from Trip Advisor: “What I really want to say is thanks.

"Thanks to all of Team Three Chimneys for their hard graft, which has helped to achieve these prestigious awards.

"Thanks to all of my suppliers for consistently providing me with the very best that Skye and Scotland has to offer, and thanks to all of our guests for their loyalty and patronage over so many years.”

It has been an award-winning season for the world-renowned Scottish restaurant, having been awarded the title of UK Restaurant of the Year in the Editors’ Awards of the Waitrose Good Food Guide 2018, and most recently, the UK AA Food Service Award 2017-18.

Shirley Spear, co-owner at The Three Chimneys said: “Every business has got to embrace digital tourism and deal with social media nowadays.

"The importance of TripAdvisor has increased enormously in recent years and worldwide travellers of all ages check customer reviews assiduously before choosing where to visit, eat and stay.

"I am staggered at the consistency of great reviews we have received for our food and all-round experience, since Head Chef, Scott Davies, joined the business.

"The relationship between every Head Chef and his Restaurant Manager is vital and Petri Pentikainen is wonderful in this role. I am immensely proud of the whole team for being rated so highly as a fine-dining restaurant both in the UK and also, throughout Europe.”
