The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) is set to re-open the doors of its new-look Terrace Café on Friday 15 April, following an extensive refurbishment.

The Café was closed during March, allowing the Garden’s exclusive catering and hospitality partner, Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events, to carry out a complete makeover.

Staff are now ready to welcome visitors back to experience the Terrace Café’s new, spacious and stylish interior which incorporates a mix of warm wood finishes and green hues, reflecting its beautiful and tranquil surroundings.

The refresh represents a significant investment by Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events and follows its recent contract win to provide catering at RBGE for the next five years.

Paul Mitchell, Catering Services Director, Sodexo Prestige Venues and Events said: “We’re really excited to show-off the Terrace Café’s fresh new look. Visitors can look forward to enjoying the contemporary, bright and airy space and our fantastic food. Our team have been working with a selection of local suppliers to develop a range of innovative, seasonal menus, which will enrich the experience of diners.

“The Terrace Café is a popular food stop set within the heart of the Gardens offering spectacular views of the city. It provides the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely lunch, sweet treat or coffee and we hope that the refurbishment will attract even more visitors and put us on the map as a destination café in the capital.”

Heather Jackson, Director of Enterprise, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, said: “The Botanics is a world-renowned centre for plant science and education and is established as a really popular tourist attraction in Edinburgh with nearly 900,000 local and international visitors each year.

11 Scottish restaurants loved by celebrities - including La Lanterna and The Balmoral

“We’re confident that the new look at the Terrace Café will really enhance our visitor experience and comes at the perfect time, as we get set for a busy summer season and run up to the Edinburgh Festival.”
