Rachna Dheer, who runs Glasgow's Babu Bombay Street Kitchen, will demonstrate how to cook dishes from around the world - including the Irn-Bru hamburger - at the free-to-attend Totally Tasty event at the Soar at intu Braehead on Monday May 1.

Rachna, who will spend four hours cooking and sharing some of her tricks of the trade, said: "I came up with the idea of the Irn-Bru onions one day when I was cooking a burger and I wanted to make it more Scottish.

"And I don’t think there’s much more Scottish than Irn-Bru.

“I soon realised that it works really well when you’re frying sliced onions in the pan with butter and you pour in Irn-Bru.

“The sugar in the drink caramelises the onions and makes them really juicy, and you can taste the Irn-Bru when you eat them.

“People can’t believe what I’m doing when they see me pour the Irn-Bru over the onions.

"But they taste great topping off a burger in a roll!"

Rachna's creation follows such culinary delights as Irn-Bru sausages, Irn-Bru flavoured sauce, an Irn-Bru pakora and for those with a particularly sweet tooth, Irn-Bru cupcakes.
