KFC and Pizza Hut team up to create new Popcorn Chicken Pizza - with gravy base

Fast food giants Pizza Hut and KFC have teamed up to launch a new Popcorn Chicken pizza - and it comes with a gravy base.

The pizza and fried chicken specialists announced the collaboration on social media, proudly stating: "Okay we did a thing. We really did a thing."

The post has already had thousands of likes and comments on Facebook and Twitter with people exclaiming their excitement at the new creation.

The new dish, which is being made to celebrate National Pizza Day on the 9th February, will feature Pizza Hut’s Classic Crust base and KFC's iconic gravy, topped with mozzarella cheese, sweetcorn and, of course, the popcorn chicken.

Not content with just one new pizza from the team up, fans suggested they should also make a Hot Wing pizza, while others added that they should include a little pot of KFC gravy to "dip the crusts in".

A very vocal minority took exception to the inclusion of some of the ingredients, with one person responding: "Why on earth would you ruin this with sweetcorn?"

While others reckoned it would work better with a BBQ or Tomato sauce base.

Responding to one of the many replies, KFC stated that it will only be available for a limited time.

The fast-food company confirmed that fans will only be able to order it - only in large - from the Pizza Hut website from the 4th February until the 16th.
