Those who love fish and chips are in for a treat, as one award-winning Scottish eatery is giving away a year's supply of fish suppers in celebration of National Fish and Chip Day, which falls on 4 June.

The Real Food Cafe in Tyndrum, which has won a host of awards for its fish and chips, is offering up the prize to a lucky customer.

All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning free fish and chips for a year is dine at the cafe between the 4 June and 4 July.

After a turbulent year due to the pandemic, the café wants to reward and thank customers for their continued support.

The talented team has also created a ‘Fish frenzy’ menu that will be served on 4 June only.

It will include a selection of haddock fish cakes and freshly baked fish-shaped sponge cakes.

From each sale, £1 will be donated to toilettwinning.org, the café’s official charity which aims to improve toilet sanitation in developing countries.

Sarah Heward, co-owner of The Real Food Café said: “We love National Fish & Chip Day, there’s always a buzz in the café and staff are on top form.

"For obvious reasons, we couldn’t celebrate it in 2020 which is why we want to give a lucky customer the chance to have free fish and chips on us for the year.

"We received so much support from regulars and customers farther afield who dine with us when travelling through Loch Lomond and Trossachs during the pandemic, which meant a lot to us.

“The team have done a brilliant job creating the fish frenzy menu and some daily specials, that we hope will raise a fair bit of money for Toilettwinning.”

The café is known for winning numerous awards and accolades, it won Best Informal Dining Experience at last year’s national Thistle Awards and was crowned National Fish Fryers Federation’s Quality Award Champion at the National Fish & Chip Awards.

It has a MSC certification for sustainable seafood and is recognised as a Coeliac UK Accredited caterer.

How to enter

To enter the draw, orders must be placed through the café’s online ordering system.

The winner will receive two portions of fish and chips per week for 12 months.

If the winner lives further afield and cannot visit the café regularly, they will be offered six free meals (including drinks and sweet treats) that they can redeem over 12 months.
