Popular chain Greggs has submitted plans open its first drive-thru bakery in Scotland.

The bakery, known for its popular items such as the vegan and meat steak bake, sausages rolls and range of sandwiches, isn't new to the drive-thru business - with four locations already established in Newcastle, Greater Manchester, Derbyshire and Lancashire.

The first Scottish Greggs drive-thru is planned for Glasgow and will be open seven days a week from 5am until midnight.

The new drive-thru would be built on top of a car park in the Great Western Retail Park in the West End of the city, beside a Burger King, Pizza Hut and close to the drive-thru Starbucks.

Glasgow City Council will consider the plans and a decision is expected to be made on 29 May.

The move comes a few months after Greggs announced a partnership with Just Eat to offer food delivery in Scotland, starting with Glasgow.

Customers can order online or via the app from as early as 7am with no minimum spend – meaning you can enjoy a Greggs breakfast at home.

Greggs chief executive Roger Whiteside said: “We know from the trials we have carried out that our customers love the idea that they can get Greggs delivered directly to their door and we’re delighted to now be working with Just Eat to provide that service to our customers across the UK by the end of this year.”
