Independent restaurant owners, Joe Lazzerini and Amalia Colaluca, are set to introduce their first concept to Glasgow’s West End this autumn when they open The Loveable Rogue on Great Western Road.

The Glasgow-based couple will offer a flexible, relaxed and accessible pub style dining venue with a new menu and look.

With fresh, home-cooked dishes at the heart of their inspiration for The Loveable Rogue, diners can look forward to comfort food alongside a wide selection of wines, locally brewed ales, beers and spirits.

The venue, which was formerly home to The Hebridean, which launched as Public House by Nico in 2018, will house a 48-cover neighbourhood pub restaurant and will showcase a seasonal menu using quality ingredients and local produce.

The menu

Each dish will offer guests a unique twist on family favourites and traditional recipes, including a lobster mac and cheese and a classic kiev with curried cauliflower.

Those that have come to love the Sunday roast offering can continue tuck into the weekend special as this will still be on the menu.

Other dishes include: chicken kiev, curry; Scotch egg, chorizo; pork, black pudding and apple and rabbit rarebit.

Pies will also feature, including ox cheek, chicken and mushroom and a vegetarian pie of the day.

As well as new sharing boards including charcuterie and cote de boeuf, the pub restaurant will offer a seafood experience with the likes of octopus and black garlic; monkfish cheek scampi; scallops with sweetcorn and mackerel with beetroot.

Vegetarian dishes on the menu include cauliflower smoked cheese; hand cut strozzapreti, smoked ricotta and celeriac, hazelnut.

A selection of dishes will come in both small and large plates.

Head chef and co-owner Joe Lazzerini said:“We will offer hearty, unfussy and delicious food that everyone can tuck into. The all-day
menu will introduce a very different flavour profile for our guests and will offer a welcoming atmosphere and homely feel – a place that needs no pretence to go along at any time of the day and enjoy.”

Glasgow based agency Maguires has been appointed to reimagine the new pub restaurant and work is currently under way.

Lazzerini and Colaluca took over the reins at 333 Great Western Road from Amalia’s brother-in-law and Glasgow chef, Nico Simeone, in February 2020 but plans to re-brand in April were put on hold due to the Covid-19 crisis.

Co-owner Amalia said: “For us a good pub offers more than just the drinks available at the bar – it’s the small touches, the little things and
the care put into everything that we believe will help us stand out.

"Combining our focus on comfort food and a friendly neighbourhood service, The Loveable Rogue will create a cosy dining environment that is dynamic yet relaxed – the kind of space Joe and I like to dine in”.

The Loveable Rogue will open its doors on Thursday 10th September, for more information and booking please visit the restaurant's website.
