BURGER.,which has branches in Edinburgh and St Andrews, has embraced Veganuary by teaming up with vegan food company Sgaia Foods to create a vegan version of one of their most popular burgers.
Sgaia Foods, who are based in Paisley, used their own product Mheat - their version of the very popular, originally Asian food seitan - to create the bacon for the burger.

Hilary, director at Sgaia Foods, said: "We came to know Ben from BurgerHQ in November and developed the bacon with him to create a full meatless version of their BURGER. burger.
"Meat alternatives can sometimes be bland but we made our Mheat bacon extra smoky and tasty, tailored to their menu! They're great at supporting and promoting smaller, local businesses as their suppliers.
"Hopefully this newly added option will help people join in on Veganuary and create a tasty option for those who are cutting meat out of their diet, while not sacrificing on flavour, texture and comfort!"
• Sgaia Foods are in the process of developing new products to add to their online deli, which will include Mheat bacon strips and a Mheat burger, starting mid February. Follow them on Facebook and twitter @sgaiafoods
