When it comes to fish, there are few places in Scotland that do it better than Arbroath.
Its reputation for great seafood precedes it, which explains the ongoing popularity of Arbroath Sea Fest, now in its 18th year.
The Arbroath Smokie – a delicacy now given protected status by the EU – will be the star of the show when the two-day celebrations kick of this Saturday.
But the festival is much more than an exhibition for the town's most famous foodie export. Its 70-odd stalls will sell everything from ostrich meat and venison to handmade arts and crafts and confectionery.
Arbroath Sea Fest also celebrates the town's proud maritime history – the Reaper, a herring drifter built in 1902 and now a heritage attraction, will be docked at the harbour.
A cookery demonstration by MasterChef: The Professionals 2014 winner Jamie Scott on Sunday will be one of the other highlights of this family-friendly weekender.
Arbroath Sea Fest takes place on Saturday 15 August, from 10am to 5pm and Sunday 16 August from 11am to 5pm. Tickets for adults cost £4 (£2 concessions). Under-fives go free. Car parking costs £2. For more information, visit http://www.arbroathseafest.co.uk
