Dubbed Ahoy!, the new Eau de Toilette is described as being "reminiscent of a fresh ocean breeze" and bursting with top notes of "zingy grapefruit, sweet mandarin, and intoxicating patchouli".

Posting a short clip on their official Facebook page, the new fragrance comes in a 50ml glass bottle, complete with a "subtle nautical design".

Birds Eye is giving fans of the Captain the chance to win one of just 50 of the limited edition bottles of the Eau de Toilette via the Birds Eye Facebook page from Wednesday, December 4.

To win, they simply have to comment on the post with their own ideas for the next entry in the series of possible Captain Birds Eye products, so far suggestions have ranged from bespoke knitwear to hats and even a "skincare range for the outdoor man".

Annalisa Fanali, Birds Eye spokesperson, said: “We know the British public have a soft spot for our Captain; in fact, you could even argue that he reached celebrity status after the unprecedented response to his debut calendar last year.

"So this Christmas, we wanted to treat fans to something special from our iconic Captain, by creating his own signature scent – after all, who doesn’t love the fresh aroma of the ocean?”
