The hotel released the balloons from their penthouse apartment, with each one filled with a redeemable voucher for the recipient to enjoy at the five-star venue.
Each voucher will range from afternoon tea for two or lunch and dinner for two, through to access to the thermal experience in the hotel’s renowned spa.
In addition, there will be a couple special treats included which include an overnight stay for one night and an ishga spa day for two.
The gesture marked a thank you from the hotel to the people of Glasgow for their support and custom during the 2016 and started the Christmas festivities off with a pop.
Murray Thomson, general manager at Blythswood Square Hotel, said: “We have enjoyed a fantastic year so wanted to express our gratitude in the run up to Christmas by releasing the balloons from our penthouse apartment as a thank you to our Glasgow customers. Each balloon has a treat inside and if you find one all you need to do is to contact the hotel and make arrangements to come in and enjoy your Christmas treat.
“We are looking forward to meeting those who find our balloons throughout the city. We urge everyone to keep a keen eye out for a Blythswood balloon over the next few days. If you spot any of our balloons why not share it with us #Blythswoodballoon.”
The hotel were also keen to express that all of the balloons used were biodegradable and no clips, ribbons or plastic attachments were included to avoid any harm to the environment.
