Ayrshire Food Hub, a charity project based in East Ayrshire, has launched a range of hampers just in time for Christmas.
As an extension of Crossroads Community Hub, Ayrshire Food Hub aims to promote local producers, encourage new skills and knowledge around food and nutrition, and to offer access to fresh food for the entire community.
The hampers are packed with local produce including Pieroni’s artisan oak smoked salmon, Rocket Monkey’s freshly ground coffee, Threepwood Fayre’s traditional handmade confectionary, Corrie Mains’ free-range eggs and lots more.
Community food worker Anne Kelso said: “Our hampers all show just how delicious and luxurious local produce can be.
"We are so lucky to have so many great producers here in Ayrshire and the surrounding areas, and I think we should really show off what’s available right on our doorstep."
The hampers have themes such as: Cosy Night In, Lazy Sunday Morning, Winter Warmer and Time for Tea - making them ideal gifts.
As well as helping to support local producers, another benefit of the hampers is that all income generated through sales will be put towards the continuation of the charity’s work in the community.
Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, Ayrshire Food Hub have prepared and distributed over 20,000 meals to individuals who are at risk of becoming isolated and unable to access wholesome meals.
The support of local producers won’t just stop with the hampers. Ayrshire Food Hub will be opening a café and farm shop early in 2021, where the fresh local fare will take centre stage.
