Glenmorangie has unveiled its new-look distillery visitor centre, which includes tasting rooms, a museum and a boutique.

Created by Russell Sage Studios, who transformed the beautiful Glenmorangie House (the team are also behind the interior of Braemar’s Fife Arms, visitors can now enjoy the new spaces as well as a range of tours and tastings.

Nestled on the banks of the Dornoch Firth since 1843, the Glenmorangie distillery is the beating heart of Glenmorangie’s whisky making. It welcomes thousands of visitors each year to trace the journey of its single malt through the distillery and meet its imaginative whisky makers.

Guests can visit  the signature giraffe-high stills, experience the traditional warehouses – and taste the delicious results.

The collaboration with interior designers Russell Sage Studio – the team behind the recent reimagining of the brand’s boutique hotel – has created an enhanced distillery visitor journey. Interior influences include whisky creation, flavour-inspired décor, and whimsical nods to the brand icon, the giraffe.

Enhancements include:

  • Tasting rooms: Restyled in bright, bold hues. One reflects the tranquil woodland that surrounds Glenmorangie’s mineral-rich water source, the Tarlogie Springs. The other pays homage to the oak casks which bring Glenmorangie’s flavours to their best;
  • Retail boutique: A technicolour tented ceiling, décor in the brand’s hallmark “orangie”, and striking “molten” copper lighting bring a playfully luxurious feel. Displays showcase Glenmorangie’s most popular single malts, distillery exclusives, and rare whiskies;
  • Museum: With bright accessories and multi-coloured carpets, the restyled museum leads visitors through the story of Glenmorangie since its beginnings more than 180 years ago;
  • Marquee: This covered outdoor space, arriving by late spring, will provide a new area for evening hosting and special events.

Glenmorangie President and CEO Caspar MacRae said: “These bold enhancements to our visitor experience make the Glenmorangie distillery an even more delicious destination for visitors from across the globe.

“We look forward to welcoming whisky lovers old and new to explore our beautiful Highland surroundings, meet our crackerjack crew of whisky makers and taste our wondrous single malt.”

Russell Sage added: “The Distillery is a very special place in the Glenmorangie story and home to its wonderful world of whisky making.

“Our vision was to respect and retain the history and patina of the place, while reinterpreting that story through a contemporary Glenmorangie lens. We aimed to transform the current spaces with the same playful imagination and innovation for which Glenmorangie is known and loved, creating rooms of joy and inspiration, to surprise and delight all who visit.”
