Whisky writer to release new book and WhiskyTubeMap on World Whisky Day

Whisky writer Blair Bowman has announced he will launch his debut book, featuring the WhiskyTubeMap, on World Whisky Day.

The World Whisky Day founder has teamed up with Nikki Welch, the creator of the hugely popular WineTubeMap, to launch the WhiskyTubeMap, a unique map that links world whiskies by flavour, making it easy to navigate from well-known names to undiscovered gems, without you having to learn your highlands from your lowlands and your bourbon casks from your sherry butts.

The collaboration between the two writers has also resulted in a new book, The Pocket Guide to Whisky (published by Birlinn) which, for the time being, is the only place you can get your hands on a copy of the WhiskyTubeMap.

The independent project is the creative output of the pair, who say they have a shared passion for "spreading their love of whisky" and that they wanted to create a guide for "making it easier for people to discover a new whisky (or two) they enjoy".

Bowman, who founded of World Whisky Day and now runs a successful whisky consultancy including multi-sensory tastings, training and brand consultancy, believes the day on the 20th of May is the perfect launch date to celebrate his new book, he said: "I'm am thrilled to share the news about the Pocket Guide to Whisky: Featuring the WhiskyTubeMap.

"It has been an incredibly exciting journey so far and I am sure that when the WhiskyTubeMap is launched in May, on World Whisky Day, it will truly make a big difference to the way people enjoy whisky."

The website www.whiskytubemap.co.uk launches today and sign-ups will get a sneak peek of the map, an invite to one of their launch parties nationwide* and links to buy a copy of the Pocket Guide to Whisky in time for a tasting on World Whisky Day.

It is available for pre-order from all major bookshops and Amazon for £7.99.

*dates and locations to be announced – you will be invited to the launch party nearest the postcode you enter.
